Website Analysis - Justin Bieber

The URL of the website is simple and without anything but the URL, audiences will be able to identify who the website is for. As it contains the artists name and ‘music’ which is commonly used by music artists, this allows fans to recognise that this is a page for updates and information that they may not necessarily get without this website.

The home page of the website has the artists name clearly at the top so audiences are able to recognise who the website is for. The name of the artist is also his ‘logo’ in a way as that is his brand that will be plastered on everything that he is associated. Looking at previous branding of this particular artist, the font of his name always correlates with his album. This makes his whole digital image very smooth as it is all the same at one time. This font is the same style as his current album and therefore is his image brand on his digital platforms.

The artists previous album cover and tour promotion all link together. The type face used is all the same throughout any association with the artist in the era he is in. This creates a new 'brand' every time the artist brings out something new. This makes his image a more smooth and professional one as everything is all linked together. This is the kind of idea I want and need to take into consideration when creating my three products.

In the top corner of the page, there are hyper links which lead the fans to Justin Bieber's social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube etc. Furthermore, under the artist’s name, there is access to 6 sub pages with different kind of information like shows, news, music, videos, shopping, and photos related to Justin Bieber, so that audience can easily find the information of their interest.

The unique thing about this artist’s website which isn’t like many others is that it has a slideshow as the main feature on the ‘home’ page. The separate slides that are continually moving have different aspects for fans to get information from e.g. tour information and way to buy the most recent songs. This being at the top of the page means it is grabbing audience’s attention as it is showing new things meaning more things for fans to get involved and it earning the artist more money as more opportunities for fans are being shown. The website is also very user friends, as not only are there tabs if you want to go to a certain part of the website, all these separate pages are on the same page but you just have to scroll down. This makes is much easier for the audience to see what is completely on the website rather than the user having to continually click and go back to look one each page.

Just under the slideshow, there is a section giving information about tour dates, this means fans don’t have to go looking on all depths of the internet to find out the dates. There is also a section for the latest news from Justin along with extra dates and opportunities for fans to either get involved or buy things. The "read more" buttons are a much bolder colour than anything else and bigger to entice readers into finding out more about the information. Below this section there are sections for music, videos and photos that are easily accessible to any fan that may come on the site. After all of this there is a section where viewers can join the newsletter and keep up to date. This website is a very interactive one where fans can get involved in numerous things, also linking this to social media means fans will be sharing information about him so more people will know about him, this therefore brings him more revenue.

Website Analysis - Little Mix

The first click on the website of the girl band ‘Little Mix’, is their faces. The simplicity of the home page makes it easily accessible for their audience and also clear for the user to see where everything is. Also when you hover over each hyperlink to the separate sections, you get a different picture of the girls. This indicates to people unfamiliar with the band that this is ‘Little Mix’. It also excites the fans as they are getting different pictures of the band which they would love to see. As this band is a ‘pop’ girl group and very mainstream, their clothing each represents this. Also their different style of fashion choice indicates the different parts of their personality. As worldwide platinum selling artists the girls are now recognisable by their fashion and what they wear so having them wear contemporary items of clothing will make them become idolised by their audience.

Having clear and accessible hyperlinks makes it a user friendly website and easy for people to use. Also having extra links under the main headings, means the user is able to understand what each link is for. Having a single page about just the girls, not only makes it available for people who are unaware of the band be aware of each of the individual girls, it also is able to make the fans of the girls find even more about the band and about things they may not have know before. This therefore builds a connection with fans as they are able to connect and understand more about the girls. This website offers users to find about what they are getting up to with the tab ‘NEWS’. Moreover, the ‘TOUR’ link gives more options for fans and more accessibility to buy tickets. This therefore increases the bands income as making it easy to find and buy tickets will appeal to the audience as they are young so will not be able to handle complicated actions. Furthermore the link ‘SHOP’ is also meaning the audience are able to buy more band related merchandise. This maximises the bands image as fans being able to buy merchandise and wearing it will increase their image, and act as a form of publicity for them.

The accessibility is further made easier by having separate pop up sections with all the links on the home page plus extra hyperlinks so the user can explore more. This is easy for users to see the whole content of what I on the website for the, . Next to all the links it also includes ways to explore and follow the band more with things such as Facebook and Twitter. There is also a button where you can change the country that you are from. This shows to audiences who are not aware of the bands success that they are a well-established band. This also allows the opportunity for the fans who are from other countries to access this website dependent on where they are from.

Website Analysis - Miley Cyrus

The first thing when clicking on the artist Miley Cyrus’ website is a massive picture of her spread across the whole screen. This immediately depicts to audiences who this website is for. The eccentric and out there image shows the personality of the artist making it more engaging to fans. When clicking on the website users might automatically think that this is it making it a bit confusing. However, once on the website for a while the right corner image starts to move enticing users to then click it. After clicking in the top right hand corner, the image then opens up a tab listing sub pages that are available to find out information about.

The home page of the website is bright colourful and eye catching. The artists name being right in the center in front of the artists face clarifies who the website is. The bold, colourful lettering reminds you that she is the definitely the main feature of this website. Furthermore once you click the artists name it takes you to a sub page where you are able to access her music. It also plays the music automatically which is unique unlike any other website that I have looked at. In the bottom corner the logo for her charity, takes you to aspects of the website dedicated to this area. This gains publicity to the charity and helps gain more awareness as fans of this artist will be of interest to something that means a lot to this particular artist. In the other bottom corner a smaller picture of the artist with a flashing multicoloured border will further grab the attention of the user. This small tab leads the users to go to her latest music video. This also shows the user all of her previous music videos as well giving new fans of her access to what she has created. The bright colours represent the audience she is appealing to and the genre (pop) that she produces. However although the bright colours may suggest a young audience, the pictures on the website could be seen as quite provocative therefore suggesting an older audience.

Once exiting the home page and opening a sub page, the artists name remains in the top corner to remind the viewer whose website it is. The menu allows user to easily access and find what they are looking for; e.g. merchandise and news. Furthermore the social media present on the page, just like many artists website allows fans to interact with each other and the artist whilst also promoting the artist. The shop side of the website where fans have access to merchandise again runs with the theme of bright and stand out colours. The word ‘Web exclusives’ and ‘free’ will attract audiences as they believe they will be getting something for nothing, or something that many others will not have. This will entice people o spend money helping the artist gain revenue.
